Stunning coloured chandeliers in this Romanian cinema.

The Project Brief

A series of four fibre optic chandeliers, each one 5 metres in diameter were situated above the moving staircase in this Bucharest cinema complex.

Each chandelier is made of approximately 600 strands of 2.2mm cracked glass fibre hich was fixed to a framework and left evenly to hang down approx 4 metres.

Full control over the lighting was made possible by using powerful 250W metal halide light sources, featuring DMX control. These light sources allow for colour change, twinkle effects and dimming levels to be synchronised between all four chandeliers.

In the main foyer, another type of chandelier was installed. This was 3 metres in diameter and used the same fibre as above.

Due to the height restriction on this particular wheel, FOLI weaved the 600 tails in and out of each other creating a spaghetti effect. The light source used was a 250W metal halide DMX, as above.
